MG-800 Digital Governor Series: Small Actuator (EAR-100)
NABCO Ltd. has delivered more than 380 units of digital electronic governors (MG-800 series) for use with large low-speed diesel engines since the first unit was delivered in 1987 for a B&W SS8OMCE engine. These products have demonstrated their high reliability. Based on this performance record, the company has developed a small actuator (EAR-100) for use with medium and small low-speed diesel engines. The first unit was delivered in April 1996 for use with a Mitsubishi UEC 50LSII diesel. This small actuator is intended for use with B&W LIS42MC/MCE, LIS35MCIMCE, S26MCIMCE engines; Mitsubishi UE UEC6OLS-(ll), 6OLA, 6OLS, 52LA, 52LS, 50LS-(?), 45LA engines; and Sulzer RTA48T engines. They feature easy adjustment and maintenance and stable operation in an extremely low speed range. It is now adopted as standard equipment for Mitsubishi UE and Mitsui B&W diesels. Orders for more than 60 units were received in the brief six-month period since they were introduced. Twenty units have already been shipped.

New High-Lift Pump
Small-capacity high-lift centrifugal pumps, mainly for use in water feeding, were already available, but they take up a great deal of space, and they are heavy relative to their capacities. The pump described in this article has been developed to solve these problems and to meet today's need for labor savings. It is designed to occupy very little space, and its weight has been dramatically reduced. In developing this pump, the greatest emphasis was placed on how to achieve a high lift while reducing the external diameter of the impeller which revolves at high speed.
The newly developed impeller for the pump is a specific radial open type. Its side clearance has been minimized. Impeller clearance is automatically coordinated by pressures from two sides to balance the clearances. This new type of specific impeller is the most significant feature of the pump. The development of this pump, whose cubic measure and weight are about one third of any existing pump of the same specifications, has resulted in significant labor saving, It also excels over earlier products in vibration and noise. With a reduced number of parts, it is also easier to maintain. This contributes further to labor saving, and, accordingly, represents further improvement over conventional pumps.
