Born in June 1969 in Tao-Yuan, Taiwan, Yu Kuan Hua takes after his father's candid personality and his mother's resonant voice. A gifted composer and lyricist, Yu Kuan Hua's sensitivity and curiosity toward music were found in very early age - he learnt to play guitar without any tutor in elementary school. Although he is the youngest child in the family, he is very independent and self-confident. He gave himself a very high goal while growing up, and to music, with unwavering faith.
Beginning in his high school years, throughout singing in pubs, Yu was accustomed to live performance. He started composing music when he was serving in the military. He began putting his feelings into music and lyrics. "Ping Pien" (Mutiny) and "Wu Ming Ying Hsiung" (Unsung Hero) were representative works of that period of time.
After accomplishing military duty, he resumed singing in pubs and piano bars until he was spotted by Sure Records & Tapes Co. Ltd.
(currently known as Sure Music Productions) who signed a recording contract with him. In 1992, he recorded his first solo album "Ai Ching Chiu Fan" (Prisoner of Love). Up to 1995, he had released another four albums. All of them received very high praise and helped to establish him as a singer-songwriter.
Yu Kuan Hua has began a new stage of his music career after joining EMI (Taiwan) in 1996, and his latest album will be released in spring 1997.
