Daniel S. Tan
Composer
Danny Tan is One of Philippines' lop composers, arrangers, producers, film scorers, musical directors with numerous national and international awards to his credit. They include the Best Film Score in 1991 and 1992; the Grand Prize as composer/arranger of song entry at the 1st Asia-Pacific Broadcasters Union - Golden Kite World Song Festival in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (1990), the 4th International Midnight Sun Song Festival in Lahti Finland (1991), Voice of Asia in Russia (1993), and the 1996 Metropop Music Festival in Manila; the Grand Prize as arranger of song entry at the 7th Metro Manila Popular Music Festival (1984), the Dresden International Music Festival in Germany (1985), the 1st ABU Popular Song Contest in Singapore (1985), the International Mermaid Song Festival in Japan (1989), and the 2nd Asia-Pacific Singing Festival in Hong Kong (1989).
Danny Tan is currently the Chairman of KATI-IA (Organization of Filipino Composers) and a Board Director of FILSCAP (Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc.).
Dodjie Simon
Lyricist
Dodjie Simon has served as President of KATHA and a Board Director of FILSCAP from 1994 to 1996. He has won numerous awards including 3rd place winner of the 1993 Likhawit MusieFest (National Songwriting Competition. Professional Division), 2nd place winner of the 1988 KBP MusicFest(National Songwriting Competition), and five times winner of the Papuri gospel songwriting competition.
Dodjie has composed and produced numerous commercial jingles and movie themes. He has also composed ninny popular hit songs.
Jaya
Singer
Jaya started in 1980 as a back-up dancer for her mother, Elizabeth Ramsey. Then in 1982, she was introduced as a solo vocalist, named as Louise Ramsey. In 1985, Elizabeth brought Jaya to the U.S. to perform with some of the well-known celebrities at the Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles, California). They both decided to stay behind and Jaya continued to sing all over California with different local bands. After finishing High School in 1988, Jaya decided to move to New York where she landed a job as a back-up vocalist and musician in Stevie B's band. In 1989, she signed a record deal with LMR Records (New York). They released the song "If You Leave Me Now", which reached the Top 40 in the Billboard Charts. The song enabled Jaya to work across the U.S. with most of the top artists, including Stevie B, M.C. Hammer, Milli Vanilli, James Ingram. The Jets, Young M.C. and many others for more than 4 years.
In 1995, at the invitation of Miss Pilita Corrales (who became Jaya's manager), she returned to Manila after 11 years. She then signed a 3 year recording contract in March 1996 with Viva Records. While waiting for the launching of her album, Danny Tan and Edith Gallardo offered her to interpret their composition for the 1996 Metropop Song Festival, a competition for composers and they won the grand prize for the song "Sometimes You Just Know". After the release of her second single, "Dahil Tanging Ikaw", the album achieved sales of more than 120,000 units wherein she was awarded the Triple Platinum Award. A second album will soon be released, also under Viva Records.
