13 In view of the above, the Government of Indonesia requests IMO to
adopt the proposed sea lanes as soon as possible, if possible before the end of 1997, 50
that Indonesia can designate them immediately thereafter in accordance with article 53,
paragraph 9 of UNCLOS.
