- The effect of the initial encounter angle of wave;
 Fig.9 shows the results of the ship motion during the ship turns from beam sea to the opposite direction in the same wave length. The initial heading angle in case (9-a) is 90 degrees and the ship turns through head sea, on the other hand, the initial hading angle in case (9-b) is 270 degrees and the ship turns through following sea.

 This figure shows the remarkable difference of the rolling amplitude and the diameter of the ship's track between left and right figure. This result may offer an useful information for safety control when a ship runs in beam sea and be going to turn to the opposite direction. In the case of considered ship, the rolling amplitude during turning through head sea tends to be larger than through following sea on the condition of λ/L=3. In other word, weather side turn is more dangerous than lee side turn in this condition, but dangerous than lee side turn in this condition, but turning circle is smaller than lee side turn.
