AN EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON FRESHNESS MAINTENANCE OF THE MARINE PRODUCTS USING NEGATIVEION

By improvement in storage technology and circulation technology, a consumer came to ask for what has more high freshness from marine products. In order to hold the freshness, at the fishing port in Japan, the low-temperature storing method consisting mainly of freezing and refrigeration is used now. These methods aim at controlling multiplication of the bacteria leading to rotten. On the other hand, in developing countries, since neither storage technology nor the circulation system is established, marine products become insanitary, a rotten advance is sped up, and the transportation range is also limited. Then, the anion which has an oxidization reduction action, the sterilization effect, etc. observed. In this research, the fundamental experiment which paid its attention to these effects is conducted, and it clarifies whether it is effective in freshness maintenance of marine products. It sets it as the last purpose to consider as the fundamental data for the storage institution using the anion by that cause.

BEACH SUNSHADE UNDER UV-B RADIATION

Destruction of the ozone layer has resulted in an increase in the amount of solar ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth's surface. The increase of ultraviolet radiation may cause skin cancer and eye damage in the human body. The direct solar radiation and sky scattering radiation include the most dangerous wavelength of ultraviolet radiation. Beach sunshade is used on the beach to prevent the sun ultraviolet radiation in midsummer. Though sunshades can obstruct the direct solar radiation, they are useless for the sky scattering radiation. Consequently, the human body receives a lot of dangerous ultraviolet radiation. Therefore the ultraviolet radiation under the shade must be estimated accurately.
 
This research aims to calculate the ultraviolet radiation in the shade. When the distribution of the UV-B sky radiation is assumed to be uniform in the sky, the radiation in the shade can be calculated using the direct and indirect day ultraviolet radiation factor. The author shows the results of research, relating to beach sunshade, in the following areas: solar ultraviolet radiation, calculation theory, material characteristics, and measurement. After that, a proposal will be made regarding the ultraviolet radiation shade factor.

A STUDY ON FATIGUE RECOVERY BY NEGATIVE ION FOR COASTAL TOURIST FACILITY

The thalassotherapy facilities has attracted attention from the institution aiming at profiting healthily, using the natural environment of the coast. With the institution, various treatments have been conventionally performed using a saltwater pool, coastal climate, etc. In this experiment, when exercising in environment with many the negative ion, and the usual environment, from the questionnaire result using the SD method, physiological influence is calculated for mental influence from the number of cardiac beats and lactic acid value before and behind movement, and the experiment is advanced for the purpose of considering as making data in the case of performing the institution plan using negative ion environment.

SURVEY OF SEA BATHING PLACE IN JAPAN -- BY SHONAN COAST

The sea bathing means swimming in sea for the purpose of summering, preservation of health and recreation. Japan Island surrounded by seas on four sides has many sea bathing places and many Japanese are gathering in pursuit of the feeling change and the bright sunshine. Shonan coast is celebrated as the oldest bathing place in Japan. In this coast, Enoshima is the center with various sea bathing places and facilities. The period of swimming is best from July to August at Shonan coast. The width of sandy beach is from 100m to 1200m. There are about 100 seaside cottages along Shonan coast. It takes about 1 hour from Tokyo to Enoshima by the train. Some guards are keeping an eye on sea bathers from A.M.9:00 to P.M.5:00 at Enoshima Sea Bathing Place. Parking lot can hold about 600 cars at 3 places of Enoshima. Though a barbecue and a camp are prohibited on the sandy beach of Enoshima, a beach volleyball and surfing can be playing. There are about 10 thousand visitors at Enoshima every year, but visitors of sea bathing are about 2 thousand persons for some years past. From the result of a questionnaire for users of sea bathing place at Enoshima, there was a general agreement on the public morality of dusts and no manners. Many users visited for recreation rather than sea bathing, and were almost a day's visitors. In future, it is necessary to accept opinions of users and neighboring inhabitants for creation of good sea bathing places.

BASIC STUDY OF EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR MARINE ENVIRONMENT

In Japan, the curriculum of elementary and junior high schools was changed from April 2002, and "period for integrated study" started. The period aims at a student supporting the capability considered itself, and experience study is raised as the typical study method. Since Japan is surrounded by the sea, marine environmental education is suitable for the period.
 
The principal objective of this paper is clarifying the present condition and the subject of the education program for marine environment by "SANBAN-ZE" which is one of a few tidal flats which remain in Tokyo Bay.
 
Since many teachers seldom had the knowledge about activity in the sea, the consciousness (knowledge about a dangerous living thing, consideration to a heat disorder, wear of the life jacket at the time of boarding, etc.) to a safety control suited low tendency. When performing environmental study on the coastal area where environmental conditions are severe, cooperation of the fisherman and specialist who knows the sea well is required.
