Session IV. Learning from Sessions III, and recognizing leaders through the establishment of SYLFF Prize (proposed)
Fifteen (15) years have passed since the establishment of the first SYLFF endowment. There are now approximately 8, 500 individuals who have received SYLFF fellowships. The Scholarship Division is considering the establishment of a "SYLFF Prize" that would be awarded every 3-5 years to SYLFF fellows who have:
* Shown outstanding performance in facilitating positive change in improving some aspect of the human condition,
* Demonstrated the ability to translate vision and ideas into action, and to think and act with wisdom on behalf of others,
* Inspired and motivated others, and
* Shown originality, creativity, character and integrity, and is a model for others.
The preliminary plans call for receiving nominations from anyone in the "SYLFF family", including graduated and currently enrolled SYLFF fellows, SYLFF Steering Committees, and individual faculty and staff at SYLFF endowed institutions. Nominations would be screened for eligibility by the Scholarship Division with selection conducted by an independent, international committee.
