The New Politics and Development Program
 
SYLFF Program:
The graduate program supports the education of students with high potential for future leadership both in public and private sectors. It covers students taking courses in: 1) problems and development of southern Italy, 2) institutional reforms and the functions of the Italian democratic system, and 3) peace and the process of universal unification.
 
Selection Process:
Fellowships are announced both in the local press and in the brochures about SYLFF fellowships. In selecting candidates, the following criteria are employed: motivation as revealed by personal background and involvement in social activities; professional competence, as revealed by both the educational qualifications and work experience; and ability to exercise leadership qualities, in particular the capacity of integrating human qualities (communication and collaborative skills) with professional maturity (technical and specialized preparation). Fellowships are usually for US$3,400-5,800. To date eighty (80) fellowships have been awarded.
