Postgraduate Awards for the Social Sciences and Humanities
 
SYLFF Program:
The program supports the education of graduate students with high potential for future leadership. The program awards fellowships to promote graduate studies in social sciences, international politics, law, business, economics, and education.
 
Selection Process:
Announcements are made both on-campus, and in the press. Each applicant is interviewed. Fellowships are usually for two years for master's degree candidates, and three years for PhD candidates. Fellowships include full coverage of tuition. In addition, master's degree students receive a monthly stipend of US$400, and an annual research allowance of US$1,000; doctoral candidates receive a monthly stipend of US$500 and an annual research allowance of US$1,700. To date, five (5) students have been awarded fellowships.

SYLFF Program:
The fellowship program supports graduate course work in seven areas of study: economics, geography, global resource management, history, international business, public administration, and social development.
 
Selection Process:
SYLFF fellowships are announced through the university bulletin and the faculty's announcements. Selection is based on academic excellence, i.e. candidates must have an average GPA of 3.5 or rank among the top five in their class. There are two types of fellowships: full fellowships amounting to a maximum of US$3,000 per student, and partial fellowships of US$500 for thesis work, respectively. One hundred seventy-two (172) fellowships have been awarded to date.
