SYLFF Program:
The program aims at supporting graduate students with high potential for future leadership, both in public life and private endeavors. This is a general program providing support to graduate students at the master's and PhD levels in the social sciences and humanities, particularly graduate students in the Faculties of Law, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, and Philology.
 
Selection Process:
SYLFF fellowships are announced in the press. Selection is based on applicants' academic excellence, quality of their research plan, leadership potential and personal qualities, as well as references provided by their academic advisors. Candidates are also required to submit an essay on a topic determined by the selection committee. Interviews are conducted with shortlisted candidates. Fellowships are normally for one year, renewable for up to three years, amounting to US$7,000 per annum.

SYLFF Program:
The program supports graduate studies in a wide variety of fields including international politics, law, economics, history, and commerce. Fellowships are also awarded to students conducting research.
 
Selection Process:
SYLFF fellowships are announced to departments within the university, and also in the press. All applicants are ranked according to academic merit in their respective disciplines, and the best applicants are awarded fellowships. No interviews are conducted. The number of fellowships awarded varies from year to year, depending on the availability of funds. Fellowships are usually for one academic year, renewable for a second year. Fellowships for master's degree candidates are for US$2,800, and for PhD candidates US$6,000. To date, a total of seventy-two (72) fellowships have been awarded.
