6. SPORT PARTICIPATION SURVEY
 The Mass Sport Department, the Committee of Sports and Physical Culture of Vietnam conducted a survey every year. The result indicated that about 15% of the population of Vietnam is presently engaged in regular physical exercise on sports. In cities, towns and industrial zones this percentage is higher; from 18% to 20% of the population.
 
7. NUMBER OF SPORT CLUB
 At the present time, there are about 30,000 sport clubs in Vietnam. Membership is about 50-200. (reported by the local sport department.)
 
8. FITNESS TESTING PROGRAM
 The fitness tests are on trial period. Result reports will be published in 2002.

 1) Infant and Pre-school children(Age 0 to 5) :
  Learning how to play a games and do some games at kindergarten.
 2) School children(Age 6 to 12) :
  Do exercise at least twice a week, To organize 'Nation-wide Phudong games'.
 3) Adolescents(Age 13 to 16) :
  Do exercise at least twice a week. To organize 'Nation-wide Phudong games'.
 4) Generalpeople in the community :
  Do exercise everyday, To organize 'Sports Farmily Competition' and 'Sports Farmers Competition' every year.
 5) Aged people :
  Do exercise every day, To organize sports games for old people every year.
 6) People with disabilities :
  Some cities and provinces organize exercise for disabled and tournament; send them to take part in international competition, Festival of cultural and sports performance for disabled every year.

 National Training Courses for leaders and staff at local sports development in provinces and cities.

12. PRESENT ISSUES AND CHALLENGES
 The main difficulty is the shortage of sports facilities equipment and good coaches. Our government has issued a decree to reserve land for sports playing fields for children, but funding for such projects is still dependent on local limited budget.
