11.4 The Committee adopted Amendnent 30 to the IMDG Code (DSC 5/13/Add.1, as amended), for entry into force on 1 January 2001, with a twelve-month transitional period until 31 December 2001, and dissemination as MSC/Circ.961.
○ MEPC45/20 para.10.14 & 10.15
10.14 The Committee noted that the MSC had noted a number of other issues associated with:
.1 the outcome of FAL 27;
.2 Flag State Implementation;
.3 the outcome of the 7th session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 7);
.4 amendments to the IBC, IGC, BCH and GC Codes;
.5 amendment 30 of the IMDG Code and its mandatory application;
.6 safety aspects of ballast water management;
.7 the prohibition of the use of PFCs in shipboard fire extinguishing systems; and
.8 amendnents to resolution A744 (18) - Guidelines on the enhanced programme of inspections during surveys of bulk carriers and oil tankers
10.15 The Committee agreed that although there were a wide variety of issues of interest to it that were considered by MSC 72 they did not require any action. As a result, the Committee noted the discussion of the MSC on these subjects.

11.11 The Committee endorsed the establishment of the DSC Sub-Committee's correspondence group on the revision of the Emergency Schedules.

18.1 The Sub-Committee recalled that the DSC Sub-Committee is in the process of revising the Emergency Schedules (EmS) contained in the IMDG Code and, emphasizing the need for seafarers with expertise in fighting fires and spillages on board ships to participate in the EmS Working Group, invited the Sub-Committee to consider the fire extinguishing provisions of the new draft schedules and to advise the DSC 6 accordingly.
