FT1-Exercise II

 

Scenario

You are going to carry out the PSC inspection on a ship laying at the port of Yokohama. It is 16 February 2001, today. The particulars of the ship are as follows.

1] Nationality: Panama

2] Type of Ship: General Dry Cargo Ship

3] Gross tonnage: 3,600

4] Date of Build: November 1989

5] Destination: Inchon, Korea

APCIS data indicate that the ship was inspected for PSC at Singapore seven months ago and reported the following deficiencies, but was not detained.

1] The closing device for the air pipe of No. 1 starboard fuel oil tank did not work in order. (Action taken 10)

2] Part of chart of Malacca Strait was not renewed. (Action taken 10)

3] Deficiency of part equipment in the rescue boat. (Action taken 16)

 

Answer on the following questions:

Question 1

You are at the wharf where the ship is laying alongside. There are some items to be checked prior to getting on board the ship. You checked the load line marks at first. What are other items? State two items at least.

 

As the results of checking the items of Question 1, the load line marks were found to be submerged. There were, in general, no other items outstanding.

You went up on deck and spoke the ship's staff at the entrance of the deckhouse that you visited the ship for PSC inspection and requested to see the Master.

The Master produced the following convention certificates at your request. All of the certificates are issued under the Harmonized System for Inspection and Certification, 1988.

1] Cargo Ship Safety Construction Certificate

2] Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate

3] Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate

4] International Safety Management Certificate

5] International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate
