Recent activity of MIRC Service Division

海洋情報研究センター(MIRC)が発足して、海洋情報提供事業を受け持ってきた海洋情報室もこの中に統合されてから、3年余となります。この問、データ利用者のニーズに合わせたより高品質なデータ提供を目指して参りましたが、海洋データ提供の最近の状況を紹介します。サービス向上を目指すため、ユーザーの声を伺わせていただければ幸いです。
1. デジタルデータ提供の迅速化
デジタル化された各種海洋情報の提供業務は、MIRC発足以前から実施してきましたが、以前は依頼を受けてから、日本海洋データセンター(JODC)の決裁事務、データの有無、量の見積、複製等を依頼するなど諸種の作業に時間がかかり、平均1〜2週間の日数を要していました。MIRCが発足してJODCからのデータ移管を受けた後は、ユーザーから依頼を受けてから、データ有無、見積、提供とMIRCで全部処理が可能になったため、1〜2日でデータの提供ができるようになりました。データベースからの切り出し作業で提供しているもののうちで提供件数の多いものを上げると水深、各層観測(水温、塩分等)、潮汐・潮流、海流、定点目視・船舶目視(気象と波浪)等です。
2. 自主出版デジタルデータ等の提供
デジタルデータの中で利用頻度の高いデータについてCD-ROM版を作成し提供することとしました。平成11年度から提供を開始したデータは下記の通りです。
(1) 日本近海1000mメッシュ海底地形デジタルデータCD-ROM3枚で構成され、包含範囲は(i)北海道・東北日本海域(34〜46°N、135〜148°E)、(ii)南西日本海域(30〜38°N、128〜144°E)および(iii)南西諸島海域(24〜30°N、122〜132°E)です。
(2) 日本近海100m間隔等深線デジタルデータ
CD-ROMは5枚で構成され、包含範囲は前記のものを5海域に分けています。
(3) 統合海岸線デジタルデータ
1/20万、1/10万、1/5万の海図から海岸線をデジタイズしたデータ。日本全域の海岸線が簡単に描画できます。16地域、16枚で構成されています。
(4) 海況速報資料集シリーズ
海況速報等を、創刊から現在まで年ごとにCD-ROM化したもので、(i)海洋速報、(ii)海流推測図、(iii)相模湾・伊豆諸島近海海況速報、(iv)一都三県漁海況速報、および(v)東京湾口海況図があります。
(5) 電子潮汐情報
高低潮時潮高及び毎時潮高、潮高曲線図をCD-ROM化したものです。
It has passed more than three years after Oceanographic Information Service Office joined to MIRC as its Service Office. We shall introduce recent activity of MIRC Service Office.
1. Prompt supply of digitized data
Oceanographic data in digitized form had been supplied before the establishment of MIRC. MIRC share database with JODC, and keeps the JODC dataset in MIRC computer system. The service office can survey easily and quickly the database and find the data requested by users. The time required is considerably shortened after MIRC was established. Before, it took a few weeks, as we needed to get JODC approval and to ask JODC officers for various management works. Now, we can supply within a few days. Typicai items of digitized data are bathymetry data, temperature and salinity data at standard depths, oceanic currents, tidal data, and marine meteorological data.
2. Originai digital dataset and data products
We compiled various dataset in CD-ROM as our original data products. Graphical displays are also given. Typical examples of our data products are:
(1) Digital dataset of bathymetry in 1000 m mesh in the vicinity of Japan, which are consisted of three CD-ROMs: (i) Northeast area near Japan (34〜46°N, 135〜 148°E), (ii) Southwest area near Japan (30〜38°N, 128〜144°E), and Southwest Islands area (24〜30°N, 122〜 132°E).
(2) Digitized isobathymetric lines at 100 m intervals in the vicinity of Japan are given in 5 CD-ROM: the total covered area is just as same as (1).
(3) Coastline data around Japan, which are digitized from charts of 1/200,000, 1/100,000, and 1/50,000 deductions: 16 CD-ROMs are prepared for 16 areas around Japan. Coastlines would be easily drawn by using this dataset.
(4) Series of prompt reports of oceanic status: (i) Prompt Report of Oceanographic Status issued by Hydrographic Department, (ii) Forecasted oceanic current chart, (iii) Prompt reports of oceanographic status for Sagami Bay and Izu Islands Region, (iv) Prompt reports of fishing and oceanographic conditions issued by Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Shizuoka Prefectural Fisheries Experimental Stations, and (v) Oceanic status near the mouth of Tokyo Bay.
(5) Electronic information on tides around Japan: Data of tide levels at high and low tides, hourly sea levels, and curves of sea level change are given (CD-ROM).
