Alternatively it can enable participation in major State, national, or international research projects which have potential benefit to the Western Australian economy.

Industry organisations or groups can claim 50% up to a maximum of $5,000 towards a consultant's research expenses, including travel and in market costs. If the research undertaken is of a substantial nature and of potential benefit to the WA economy, funding of up to $20,000 may be available. Eligibility criteria and conditions apply.

 

EXPORT MARKET SUPPORT SCHEME

The Export Market Support Scheme (EMSS) assists approved WA industry groups and companies to develop export markets overseas and in other states by offsetting the cost of participating in specialised industry missions and displays at approved trade exhibitions.

EMSS provides reimbursement of 30% (to a maximum of $5,000 per market visit) of one economy return airfare and the cost of basic shell scheme and floor space and stand costs at approved exhibitions. EMSS funding has been extended to include an initial visit to a new overseas market, or nominated existing Asian market, which does not involve attendance at an exhibition or participation in a trade mission. INDUSTRY SECTOR ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE OFFICER SUPPORT PROGRAM

This scheme assists the establishment or the ongoing operations of non-profit and not for profit industry sector associations in Western Australia through the engagement by each qualifying association of an Executive Officer working to an agreed program.

Funding assistance is on a matching dollar for dollar basis to a maximum of $80,000 per annum for a maximum of 3 years (salary costs will be met to a maximum of $30,000 per annum). Eligibility criteria and conditions apply.

 

 

BILATERAL BUSINESS COUNCIL SUPPORT

Bilateral business councils operating in Western Australia may qualify for financial assistance to participate in international trade activities approved by Commerce and Trade.

A business council may secure up to $5,000 through a market support scheme designed to advance its overseas trade development work. Eligibility criteria and conditions apply.

 

'MARKET ALERT'

Improved communications with industry is a key objective of the Department of Commerce and Trade. The new 'Market Alert' publication aims to inform industry of developments in the rapidly changing Asian markets, using current economic and business information. It is produced weekly from information gathered by the WA Government Overseas Trade Offices and forwarded by E-mail to industry associations for distribution to members.
