(4) 6.4 Direct measurement and monitoring method

(Additional draft for the items under development in previous draft)

Notes: An underling part shows the additional draft.

6.4.1.3 Engine load and interval for data sampling

The data for certification survey shall be taken at the most frequently operated load (one point) and for at least 30 minutes continuously. And the data shall be taken at least 5 times for the period within 30 days before the periodical or intermediate surveys. However, where there is special reason that the data cannot be taken within this 30 days, the data within 6 months may be accepted.

(The draft for NOx monitoring method useful for the rest of the above mentioned period is under development.)

As a premise, it is necessary to confirm the development of the practical sensors (monitoring system). The following proposal is considered.

6.4.2 Analysis of the fuel

6.4.2.1. The sample of the fuel used for the direct measurement and monitoring method shall be analyzed. The sample shall be kept on board until the completion of the periodical or intermediate surveys for the verification. (The draft for position and timing for sampling of the fuel is under development.)

Proposal:

The fuel sampling position is to be at a service tank or the down stream.

The fuel sampling is to be carried out during the NOx measurement.

6.4.2.2 (The draft for details of the fuel analysis such as timing, items and method is under development.) (The items of the fuel analysis shall be so included that the NOx emission rate can be determined such as the Nitrogen contents etc.,)
