ENGINES

UEC37LSII / UEC52LSE / UEC68LSE

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. has been developing the UE diesel engines with its own technology since 1955. The UEC75LSII type diesel engine, which is the first arrow of the UEC-LSII series engines, was completed in 1987 based on the excellent service results of the conventional UEC-LS type diesel engines.

Since then, the development of UEC-LSII series engines has been proceeded step by step and the verification on test bed of UEC37LSII type diesel engine, which is the latest model of UEC-LSII series, was satisfactorily executed in the beginning of this year.

The UEC-LSE type, which is the next generation of UEC-LSII engines, was started with its development in 1998. Up to now, UEC52LSE and UEC68LSE type diesel engines have revealed their figures. Four sets of UEC52LSE engines were ordered and the verification test of the first engine will be carried out in the beginning of 2001.

UEC37LSII

The 6UEC37LSII diesel engine which is the latest model of the line-up of UEC-LSII series engines had been completed b Akasaka Diesels Ltd. one of the UE licensees in Japan.

The UEC37LSII engine was developed as the main engine of various small ships such as handy bulk carrier, multipurpose carrier, product carrier and chemical tanker, etc.

Both the column integrated with camshaft casing and the bedplate are made of monoblock casting. The cylinder jacket is extended and integrates cylinder liner support and scavenging trunk. And the jacket type cooling is applied to cylinder liner and cover.

The arrangement of the exhaust gas manifold is optimized in order to reduce engine height and improve the vibration characteristic.

Like the above, the construction is simplified, and the maintenance and the reliability are improved.

The first UEC37LSII verified its high reliability, excellent performance and the compliance with IMO Nox regulation through the measurement on test bed in the beginning of this year.

UEC-LSE (UEC52LSE / 68LSE)

The UEC-LSE engines have been developed based on the long period good service results of UEC-LSII engines. The design concepts of the UEC engine are simplicity and compactness, high reliability, easy maintenance and high economy.
