6. Session III: Air-Sea Interaction in the Western Pacific
Air-Sea Interaction in the Western Pacific
Chair: P. Delecluse, T. Nakazawa
In this session, the following topics will be disucssed: Review about atmosphere-ocean variability in the Western Pacific Review of the current modeling research such as prediction of El Nino Future direction about new observational research and modeling research
The Western Pacific is, like Indian Ocean, one of the key regions for climate variability and change, and is characterized by the warmest sea surface temprature and the active convection. In spite of the importance, our knowledge about air-sea interaction in this area is still limited. In this session, the focus will be placed on air-sea interaction in the Western Pacific, and the future direction of such challenging subjects as El Nino phenomena or improvement of prediction ability will be discussed.
