17世紀後半から18世紀前半にかけてイタリア・クレモナ地方で活躍した名弦楽器製作者アントニオ・ストラデイヴァリの製作による弦楽器です。19世紀におけるイタリアの卓越したヴァイオリン奏者ニコロ・パガニーニがクヮルテット演奏に相応しい4挺を収集し、所有していたところからこの名前がつけられました。1994年4月にワシントンのコーコラン美術館から購入いたしました。このクヮルテットは、1680年製作のヴァイオリン、1727年製作のヴァイオリン、1731年製作のヴィオラ、1736年製作のチェロにより構成されております。
Stradivarius "Paganini Quartet"
The four instruments of this internationally renowned quartet were made by Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737), who made masterpieces of string instrument in Cremona, Italy. These instruments were once owned and played by the Italian virtuoso violinist and Composer, Nicolo Paganini, in the 19th century, hence, the name "Paganini Quartet" NMF purchased this set of quartet from the Corcoran Gallery of Arts in Washington, D.C. in April 1994.
