Hitachi Zosen-MAN B&W 8S50MC-C Compact Engine

In October 1997, Ariake Machinery Works of Hitachi Zosen in Kumamoto has completed the manufacture of Hitachi Zosen-MAN B&W 12K90MC diesel engine which was installed on the largest 6,600-TEU over-panamax container ship built in Denmark. This engine meets the owner's severe requirement such as (1) high strength dual material cylinder liner, (2) low wear rate and feed rate through application of CPR ring, and (3) use of high efficiency and low noise turbocharger. Good operational results were obtained.

a) Twin stay bolt

b) Tin-al shell bearing for main crank pin and cross head bearing

c) High top land piston with gas-tight top ring
