Navigation and Other Systems

Super Advanced Navigation Support System

Mitsubishi Super Bridge has been developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., which presents simultaneous conveniences of safety, punctuality, fuel saving and one-man watch/bridge operation throughout voyages.

Super Bridge has a voice input and output equipment and a touch-screen as the main man-machine interfaces between the navigator and the system to minimize the potential of human error.

The main functions of Super Bridge are:

・ECDIS display overlaid with radar image

・Tracking Pilot with drift correction

・Speed Pilot for fuel saving

・Onboard weather routing and navigation scheduling by satellite data communication

・Collision and grounding avoidance planning and control with artificial intelligence technology

・Hands-free verbal ship operation

・Voice navigation information service and alarm

・Watchkeeper monitoring by use of conversation between the navigator and the system.

The latest version of the system fully complies with class requirements for One Man Bridge Operation.

Super Bridge was adopted on a coastal service tanker and an LPG carrier, which were delivered in 1997.

Super Advanced Cargo/Ballast Handling Support System

Mitsubishi Super Cargo System is a highly advanced Cargo/Ballast management system for single or multi-grade cargo vessels including LNG, LPG, and Chemical carriers. The system provides full automatic control of operations, and incorporates planning, simulation and training facilities to support one-man control room operations. The system has proven its ability through performances on a number of vessels.

The features of Super Cargo System are as follows.

・Automatic tank planning takes into consideration trim, heel, hull stress, cargo grades and part cargoes for loading and discharge at ports.

・Automatic control via one touch operator response to guidance messages carries out preplanned loading, discharge, ballast and crude oil washing operations.

・System incorporates Classification approved loading computer on-line with off-line mode.

・Simulation of preplanned automatic control allows operator to investigate all vessel interim conditions, including displacement, trim, heel and hull stress.
