「世界観光統計資料集」について
従来から世界の主要旅行市場国が発表している「国際観光統計」は、そのほとんどが「インバウンド旅行」に関するものであり、世界の旅行業界にとって必要とされる「アウトバウンド旅行」の統計となると、日本、韓国、台湾等いくつかの国・地域を除くと、発表している国は極めて少ないのが現状です。また、発表されたとしても、バカンスなど目的が限定されていたり、推計の枠を出ない大雑把な数字であったりするため、地域別及び時系列的な動向や旅行先国を一目で把握することが困難な状況です。
本統計は、こうした現存する統計の不十分なところを補うことを目的として、加盟各国から世界観光機関(WTO)へ提出された受入れ国ベースのインバウンド統計をもとに、逆集計することにより主要24カ国からのアウトバウンド統計である旅行先国別訪問者実数(1993-1997)、つまり主要国からの旅行先別訪間者数が把握できる資料となっています。特に、地域別及び世界の数字は、主要送り出し国からのアウトバウンド旅行者の地域別及び延べ旅行者数を知る上で大いに役立つものとなっています。
なお、各国の受入れ統計は、国によって統計処理の方法に相違がみられるため、各国間の数字を比較する際は、予めその旨を留意の上活用願います。また、さらに詳しい内容(分類方法等)については、WTOが毎年発行している「世界観光統計年鑑(YEARBOOK OF TOURISM STATISTICS)」に各国の受入れ統計が記載されていますので、参考とすることをお勧めします。
World Tourism Statistics
Most international tourism statistics published by the world's major tourist market countries has traditionally been those about inbound travel to their countries. Only a few exceptions such as Japan, Korea and Taiwan issue statistics about outbound travel from their territories, which are required by the world's travel industry. Since such statistics, even if they are available, tend to cover only certain kinds of travel such as vacation travel or to be roughly estimated figures, it is difficult to grasp at a glance the accurate traaffic of outbound tourists by region or period or their individual destinations.
This statistic, compiled for the purpose of complementing the currently available statistics, is designed to enable us to understand the number of outbound travelers from each of the world's 24 major tourist generating countries by destination for 1993-1997. This statistic has been produced by re-classifying the data about inbound travel submitted by its member countries to the World Tburism Organization(WTO). It should be especially noted that the figures included in this statistic will be of great help for us to understand the world's total and number by region of outbound travelers from each of the major tourist generating countries.
When comparing the figures of each country, it should be noted that the methods used for processing statistics vary with countries. For details such as the method of classification, we recommend that you refer to each country's inbound statistic in the Yearbook of Tourism Statistics annually published by WTO.
