Research of deterioration for marine diesel engine performance
Summary
The existence of deterioration on marine diesel engine performance which is caused by the combination of deterioration on various engine components, is well known to ship operators and engine manufacturers. However, the degree of influence of each component to the total engine performance has not been clarified.
On the subject research, by using three sets of test engine, two kinds of experiment were carried out. The first was to find out the independent influence of deterioration of each component to the engine performance. The second was to study the combined influence of deterioration of a few components. As a result, various knowledge of deterioration on marine diesel engines was obtained.
