MIRC周辺
MIRCはオフィスを銀座の一角に構えたが、銀座の名前に憧れた訳ではなく、JODC・海上保安庁水路部に近接したビルを探したまでである。従って、近くで最も重要な建物は水路部であり、MIRCのサービス部門(海洋情報室)もJODCの「海の相談室」と同じ部屋に置かれている。その隣が朝日新聞社で、その向こうに魚市場がある。反対方向に首都高速道を越えると銀座、最初の信号を右に曲がって進むと、右に新橋演舞場、左に銀座東急ホテルがある。この信号の1つ先の道を右に折れて進むと左側に銀座7丁目郵便局があり、その1つ先のビルがMIRCの入っている三島ビルである。ちなみに、この郵便局はMIRCの発足に合わせて、今年の4月1日に開局した。地下鉄日比谷線の東銀座駅から徒歩3分、JR新橋駅からも徒歩10分の交通至便の地にあり、歌舞伎座や浜離宮も遠くない。周りは高級料亭街であり、三島ビルの1階にはシャレたレストランきむらがある。しかし、隣のビルにはコンビニがあるし、MIRC職員のためか近隣にはちゃんと安い飲み屋も多数ある。銀座かいわいにお出かけの節は、ぜひお立ち寄りいただきたいものである。
Vicinity of MIRC
Ginza is one of the most noted spots in Japan. However, the office of MIRC was selected to be there simply because it is located very cloce to JODC/Hydrographic Department, MSA. Thus, the most important site to visit is JODC in this district. A MIRC Service Officc (our branch office) is set in the same room as Marine Information Service Office of JODC. The next building is Asahi Shimbun, one of the biggest news-paper companies in Japan, and then you can find Tokyo Central Fisheries Wholesale Market. If you walk in the opposite direction from JODC, you will pass a short bridge hanged over Metropolitan Expressway. Then, you are in Ginza !
If you turn to right at the first traffic signal, you will find the Shimbashi Embujo Theater on your right, and the Ginza Tokyu Hotel on your left. Don't take this road, and you should turn the next corner to right. Soon, you will find Ginza 7-chome Post Office on your left. The next fancy small building is Mishima Building, on the 5th floor of which MIRC is located. It is about 3 min. from Subway Higashi-Ginza Sta. of Hibiya-line, and about 10 min. from JR Shimbashi Sta. on foot. Kabuki Theater and Hamarikyu Park are not so far from us. Though there are many Japanese-style restaurants of highest class that we never visit, there are also many Sake-restaurants with reasonable price for us. Please visit us, when you come to Ginza District.
