The Multi-Functional River Cleaning Vessels SUIRYU and HARIMA
The pusher barge system river cleaning vessel SUIRYU and the pusher HARIMA were built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and delivered to the Chubu Regional Construction Bureau of the Ministry of Construction in July 1996.
The vessels work prevents contamination of the river and maintains water quality by collecting the dirt and the minute alga (vegetable plankton) floating on the surface of the river as well as by gathering weedy dirt which becomes deposited on the river bottom.
Features
1. The SUIRYU is a non self-propelled work barge that incorporates the function of a hydraulic backhoe and collects dirt which has accumulated on the surface of the river and the dirt depositing on the river bottom by means of the multi-arm system provided with various types of special buckets and through the use of a dirt collection net. Also, the barge is equipped with the device for collection and condensation of the minute alga (vegetable plankton) flowing into the river.
2. The HARIMA is a 360PS pusher and performs the pushing work for the SUIRYU by means of a hydraulic connection system and the work as the anchor lifting vessel for the work barges as well as the towing work and the transport work.
3. In addition, it is possible to suction off alga floating on the water surface more than l00m far away from the vessel through the use of a FRP boat equipped with a long distance feed water pump.
