PRINCE SOYA,a 3.217-GT Passenger Car Ferry

The 3,217-GT passenger car ferry, PRINCE SOYA was completed in March 1995 at the Setoda Works of Naikai Zosen Corporation and delivered to Higashi Nihonkai- Ferry Co., Ltd. The ship is now serving the route from Wakkanai via Rishiri island to Rebun island and vice versa.

The ship has a continuous car deck and two passenger decks with a bulbous bow and the split-stern. The loading and unloading of the vehicles is carried out through the ramp door installed at the aft end of the car deck.

As is the case for the passenger car ferry, special attention was payed to the ship's maneuverability and passenger comfort.

Namely, ship's maneuverability was enhanced by installing two Schilling Monovec Rudders and a bow thruster. Antirolling tank was installed to keep the ship's rolling period within comfortable range for passengers and split-stern hull form contributes to improve propulsive performance and ship's vibration.

The ship is equipped with twin main engines with twin propellers.
