High-Speed Access Ships

Mitsui Mightycat 40 NEPTUNE

Mitsui Mightycat 40 NEPTUNE, built at Tamano Works of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.(MES) was delivered to the joint owners, Maritime Credit Corporation, Tokushima Kosokusen Co., Ltd. and Nankai Ferry Co., Ltd. in June, 1995.

Six Mightycat 40s, including NEPTUNE, have been delivered to domestic owners, and are now in service.

Features

1. Excellent propulsion performance:

A remarkable maximum speed of 41 knots was achieved through a combination of MES know-how gained from the construction of some 20 high-speed catamarans, the adoption of a water jet propulsion system, and further improvements in the hull form.

2. Excellent seaworthiness and riding comfort:

The tunnel between the twin hulls and the shape of the submerged hull, as well as the computer controlled automatic tab control system, provide excellent seaworthiness. Hull motion in waves is much less than those experienced with conventional hull forms, resulting in greater riding comfort and lower likelihood of seasickness among passengers.

3. Greater safety:

The far greater stability of the catamaran over monohull craft allows the Mitsui Mightycat to provide greater safety for passengers in waves.

4. Ample deck space:

The ample deck space, one of the special features of a catamaran, is utilized to the maximum. All of the wide cabins and seats are arranged above the spacious main deck, which ensures a comfortable ride and wide view for the passengers.
