"I like to sing. I used to sing all the time when I was a student, and became proficient at burping even when it wasn't necessary. When I was given instruction in esophageal speech, I lost no time in trying it myself. The vowels came out fluently, starting with "a." Before long, I found it easy to speak 4-syllable words."

This friend wanted to be a vocalist. While continuing abdominal breathing during vocal music training, the inlet of his esophagus seemed to loosen, and air apparently enters the esophagus freely during pulmonary inhalation. As far as he is concerned, he is ready for esophageal speech whenever he has a laryngectomy.

As described above, then in order to be successful in esophageal speech, practice abdominal breathing.

Some people, even though they are trained in esophageal speech, will not be able to speak for certain common reasons.

Solution:

・ The instructor should have the student place a hand at a point immediately above the tracheostoma at the front of the neck. Doing so, the student can be made to understand the exact site of vibrations during esophageal speech and the fact that this is quite different from the site of oral whispering in terms of voice production.
