a) Hi-Vision Museum Promotion Committee

The Hi-Vision Museum Promotion Committee was founded in April 1991. It is made up of local governments and museums. Its purposes are:

l) to make software using hi-vision technology

2) to retail software

3) to hold software contents

4) to popularize and educate people about hi-vision museums

5) to conduct research and consulting activities.

A total of 542 members including national museums, local governments, and private museums participated in this committee at the end of the 1996 fiscal year,

b) Fiscal support measures

Fiscal support is indispensable to the success of this project. At present there is no special support for buying the hi-vision equipment but local governments will be able to issue local bonds to finance the building of facilities that incorporate high definition TV.

The national lottery association can also provide support if the local government only provides the hardware.

The Regional Creation Association has established a grant system to provide the hi-vision museum with up to one-third of the total price of the software that it purchases.
