(7) Situation regarding construction of base facilities for information networks
The base facilities for the information network projects of local governments, public corporations, the third sector, etc., include:
a) facilities with the function of promoting the information industry
b) facilities which function as centre stations for CATV, videotex, PC communications, etc.
c) human resource development and training facilities, such as for training computer experts
d) popularization and enlightenment facilities that display the latest information network equipment.
1) Situation regarding management of information network base facilities
The situation regarding management of the base facilities for information networks is shown in Table 17.
Of the total 518 facilities, 210 are under the direct management of local governments, 35 are administered by public corporations, 226 by the third sector, 43 by other organizations, and 4 are not accounted for.

Most facilities have more than one function, and all 518 facilities have a total of 778 functions.
