(2) Current situation regarding development of local information network systems

The information network systems of local governments are so varied that it is difficult to categorize them in a comprehensive and unrifled manner. Local governments were, therefore, requested to match their individual systems to the most suitable category in Table 4 and a nationwide summary was drawn up by collecting the results.

 

1) Current situation regarding local information network systems

Table 3 shows the current situation regarding systems which have already been developed or are being developed. 5,697 systems have already been developed and 948 are in the process of being developed.

6,091 systems are directly run by local governments, 40 by public corporations, 284 by the third sector and 230 by other organizations, to give a total of 6,646.

It can be seen that over 90% of all the systems are directly run by local governments.

There was an increase of 577 systems, or 9.5%, compared to the previous year.

 

2) Current situation regarding information network systems according to category of system

Table 4 shows the results when the most common systems in local governments are classified as already developed or in the process of being developed in each business category.

Of the total 7,556 systems which are directly run by local governments, 2,104 are disaster prevention systems, 1,288 are emergency bulletin systems, 1,001 are administrative information systems, 655 are administration counter service on-line systems, 401 are weather and flood prevention information systems, and 308 are library information
