I am sorry for my late reply to your letter dated March 10, l997 due to my absence of office. In response to your Questionaires, I am pleased to answer according to the numbers as follows:
1. Ship Safety Law (including Law for Preventing Collision at Sea), Oil Pollution Prevention Law, Marine Traffic Safety Law and Fishing Vessels Law.
2. 1) Ship Safety Division and Ship Standards Division of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) - (see the organization table in attachment)

Korea Ship Safety Technology Institute (KSSTI) - for the vessels neither covered by Government nor by KR ("The Korea Ship Safety Technology Institute" will be the anticipated name of the present "Korean Fishing Vessels Association")
3. 1) Hull, machinery, equipment, discharge facilities, steering/towing/anchoring arrangements, life-saving & fire fighting equipment, load line assignment electric facilities (It is noted that accommodation facilities, sanitary facilities, navigation equipment, and tonnage measurement are not entrusted to KR.)
2) The article 8〜? of the Ship Safety Law stipulates that a KR classed ship which has undergone the surveys by KR for the items __listed above is regarded as a ship passing the inspection of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in accordance with this Law.
4. No other classification society except KR.
