APPENDIX A
List of bulk materials which may liquefy
Al.General
A.1.1 This appendix lists materials which may liquefy if shipped at a moisture content in excess of their transportable moisture limit (TML).
A.1.2 It should be carefully noted that this list of materials is not exhaustive and that the physical or chemical properties attributed to them are for guidance only. Consequently, whenever the shipment of a bulk cargo is contemplated, it is essential to obtain currently valid information about its physical and chemical properties prior to loading.
A.1.3 Varying terms are used to describe materials which may liquefy. Each name of materials in this Appendix is described by“Proper Shipping Name / Correct Technical Name” to clarify that the material may liquefy, and these should be used on the documents. In addition to the“Proper Shipping Name / Correct Technical Name”, the correct technical name should be declared for identifying the chemical hazards, etc., as it deems appropriate.
A.2 Mineral concentrates
A.2.1 All known terms are listed in Tables A.2.(1) and A.2.(2) but these lists are not exhaustive. The“Proper Shipping Name / Correct Technical Name” is distinguished by capital letters. In addition, ore or mineral names may be used to describe the same material, These are included in Table A.2.(2) for reference to the “Proper Shipping Name / Correct Technical Name” by the word "see". Such ore and mineral names should not be used on documents as the main description of the material. However, for information purposes, their inclusion in the description is acceptable.
