In fiscal 1996 the Fire Defence Agency carried out research and study into how disaster-prevention facilities should be earthquake-proofed, such as oil-spill barriers in petrochemical complexes.
B) Study into earthquake-proofing of fire-fighting facilities and equipment
In fiscal 1995 research and study were carried out into how to earthquake-proof fire-fighting facilities and equipment such as fire-fighting facilities, warning facilities and evacuation facilities.
C) Research and studies into measures to prevent furniture tipping over
In fiscal 1996 joint research and study were carried out by the Ministry of Construction, the Fire Defence Agency, local public bodies, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation etc., into measures to prevent furniture tipping over.
