W.A. Mozart (1756-1791). Austrian composer. He composed this Sonata in just 5 days in 1784. In those days, he mainly composed piano music and was often active as a pianist. This Sonata was composed for an acclaimed female violinist, Regina Strinasacchi (1764-1839). He was fond of her rich sensitive performing style and this particular sonata was composed with the intention to perform with her. This work has unprecedented richness in the variety of its melodic material, its phrase structure and its harmonic pace as well as its texture. In the first movement, piano and violin takes alternate turns in playing the theme. The second movement starts with unique Andante B flat minor, which is said to be a distinctive style of his sonata. The last movement is in Allegro-Rondo.
