(4)Development of the Kansai international Airport
The Kansai International Airport is being sited 5km offshore at Senshu-Oki southeast Osaka Bay.
The airp0rt is the first airport which can be operated 24 hours in Japan. Based on the master plan for the airport, it will be developed in stages, of which the first stage of construction was completed and the airport was opened on September 4, 1994.
As of August 1995, the airport was linked with 25 countries, 2 regions, and 52 cities overseas (468 flights per week), and with 28 airports in Japan (82 flights per day).
