While the economy in East Asia is rapidly developing, transport infrastructure, the basis for exchange of people and goods and for balanced development of the economic society, is seriously insufficient. In view of this situation, development projects of infrastructure such as airports. ports, and railways are being
launched one after another.
Vice-Ministers and leading experts on major projects in East Asian countries are participating in this symposium. We will look over major projects in East Asia, present our experiences, and discuss the ideal way of developing and managing transport infrastructure.
I hope that you can obtain an accurate understanding and views on transportation in East Asia, and participate in the discussion with leaders in the field of transport infrastructure.
