In 1986, Koden's radars won the Ministry of International Trade and Industry's Good Design Award. This was the first time that this award was given for any type of electronic ship navigation equipment.
Koden's "MDL-7," a radar developed for use aboard pleasure boats and small fishing craft, embodies the manufacturers efforts to achieve greater handling ease, compactness, lighter weight, and sophisticated technology. Easy to install on small craft, it is expected to contribute to a significant reduction in marinedisasters.
Features
1. A large seven-inch liquid crystal display screen affords high-quality display even in direct sunlight.
2. An easy-to-use menu system facilitates manipulation.
3. Compactness and light weight make the radar easy to install, even in narrow spaces.
4. Low electric power consumption means a very small load on the battery.
5. Navigation and safety are enhanced due to the radar's functions which include a display of the craft's position (latitude and longitude), the distance to and the direction of the waypoint, the wakes of other vessels, and a proximity alarm when another vessel is approaching.

HR Series Searchlights Acquire CE Mark
Sanshin's HR series of searchlights, which are particularly suited for motor yachts and other small craft, are extensively marketed in the United States and Europe. Since January 1, 1996, most products for export to the EU have been required to bear the CE mark. Sanshin's strong effort to acquire the CE mark for its HR series of searchlights, which are its main products, resulted in the company obtaining the mark for the HR-55 and HR-1012 in May and for the HRX- 150 in July 1996.
These HR series searchlights have a function unparalleled in the world - the ability to continuously tum 360 degrees and to be stopped at any time and at any angle. This feature is achieved by means of a slip ring. All three models in this series have this basic function.
The HR-55 and HR-1012 use a halogen lamp, while the HRX-1 50 is equipped with a xenon lamp. The next-generation HRX-150 embodies many remarkable electronic features. Moreover, it is the world's first searchlight to have a stabilizer built into the lamp body to drastically reduce noise.
