Nilkura Kogyo Co., Ltd.

HY-OTAC Mark-5 and Niikura HI-VENT

Mark-5

Niikura Kogyo Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing and marketing tank cleaning machines since 1968, and has delivered a total of 17,000 such machines for installation in 430 ships.
The recently developed HY-OTAC Mark-5 is improved in terms of operating ease and cleaning efficiency, yet cost has been reduced. This tank cleaning machine, which has such advantages as a simple speed reduction mechanism, offers ease of operation and maintenance thanks to the absence of any high-speed rotating parts and, accordingly, of any complex mechanism. It features high reliability and economy.
In May the new product acquired a type certificate from the Japanese Ministry of Transport, together with approvals of the major ship classification societies.
At present, more than 300 units have been ordered on a pro forma basis for installation in 10 vessels for delivery to both Japanese and foreign clients.

HI-VENT

Niikura Kogyo has developed a new version of its HI-VENT, which has been marketed as a ventilation valve for tankers carrying crude oil, oil products, and chemicals to protect tanks from fire and explosions by maintaining the pressure within tanks while the tankers are at sea and by discharging at high-speed the large quantity of hydrocarbon vapor generated within the tanks during cargo handling. This new valve has already acquired a type certificate as a product satisfying IMO MSC Circ. 677, the latest international standard regarding venting valves. Pro forma orders have been received for more than 400 units of HI-VENT from South Korean, Singaporean, Chinese and other foreign owners.
